Typography Creation
The typeface began as an exploration of how traditional Blackletter could evolve within modern contexts. Its tall, angular forms retain the rhythm and geometry of historical scripts, while refined strokes and reduced ornamentation give it a more versatile, contemporary presence.
The design plays with tension—balancing heaviness and openness, contrast and clarity—to create a visual language that feels both authoritative and expressive. This harmony of opposites reflects the essence of Rosalía’s music: rooted in heritage yet unapologetically forward-looking.
Poster Design
The poster serves as a visual extension of the typeface’s concept. Inspired by Rosalía’s distinctive aesthetic and the vibrancy of flamenco culture, the composition integrates the typeface with a mosaic image that captures movement and emotion.
The use of bold red, warm neutrals, and dynamic layering mirrors the passion and energy of performance. The typography frames the portrait, functioning both as a graphic element and as an identity system—linking visual rhythm with musical rhythm.
Lyric Book
The lyric book applies the typeface in a structured yet expressive way, using scale, spacing, and hierarchy to echo the rhythm and cadence of Rosalía’s lyrics. Each page allows the typography to “perform” — expanding, contracting, and dancing across the layout in response to the tone of each song..
This publication highlights how the typeface functions in real-world use, balancing readability with a bold visual identity. The layout experiments with asymmetry and white space, inviting readers to engage with the text as both poetry and design.
